This is among the worst King’s Quest games. I got it at released and was excited about it, but quickly got stuck with some very obtuse puzzles that were maybe not hard for seasoned vets, but were for a nine-year-old. I still had fun poking around Serenia, but could never finish this one until many years later. I did like the story, and I don’t hate point-and-click as much as you, but I agree that the Sierra point-and-click interface improved with later games. For example, for this and some of the other early point-and-click games, I can’t stand the red X that appears over the icon when you click on a something that cannot be interacted with. Just give me a message already.
