A wonderful review of not just an album, but of the man and his career. Many great insights - the difference between being able to elevate a routine song versus the song having to do the work is one, which ties into another, the “Do ya Think I’m Sexy” Rod Stewart-reference of a career dividing line.

Hi George I have been reading with attention and delight most nof your post and what strikes me js the little exposure that your work is attracting... you need to be read by the masses they are millions of ppl out there that have to enjoy reading your posts! Please monetize by using channels like you tube make a video with some pics and talk over, or go audible and make podcasts. The quality of your work must be spread ASAP we need critic's of your caliber and your knowledge bit to mention your caustic humor... leo

Hi Leo,

thanks for the good wishes; I must say, though, that I'm pretty much satisfied by the amount of exposure. A small trickle of really interested people have their ways of discovering what I do (especially if people like you spread the good word among those who care); millions of fans would not only make it harder for me to go on with my regular job, but could also involuntarily get me to do things I don't really want to do. Also, I don't think I'd do too good with audio or video; my comfortable medium is written text, and it's a little too late in my life to force myself to switch to something so completely different.

(And, ugh, "monetize"... even if YouTube did allow me to monetize - I think that they banned monetization from Russia due to this year's events - I'd never in a million years get involved in any program that uses advertising. If I ever get into financial distress, I'll just start asking you guys for donations on Patreon or any other such site.)
