Never would've thought an album of a guy quietly picking a guitar in his lonesome to a bunch of reworked old (and some new) blues tunes could satisfy me so much.
It's such a sweet little record, isn't it? Short (which is sometimes a bonus with pre-war blues recordings), and totally different from the usual stereotypical idea of the "grizzled Delta bluesman", almost insanely modern and singer-songwriterish for its age.

I did not have MJH (or at least that full original recordings album) on my blues radar/playlists. That hole in my soul is now plugged, thank you.

If someone can get me into American Primitivism, it’s you George. Phenomenal review, very excited to check this record out!
