"the McVie / Flint rhythm section is thick, flexible, and always reliable"
I forgot these guys played together. It kind of completes a circle for me. After his stint in the Bluesbreakers, Hughie joined up with former Manfred Mann man Tom McGuiness to form McGuinness Flint in '70. Nominally, they were mirror images of John's later band (FLeetwood MaC=MCguinness FLint), but it doesn't end there: McFlint's lone hit from '71 "When I'm Dead and Gone" could have been dropped into the Mac's Future Games and been the best track on that sleeper album.
Rest in peace, John Mayall.
