I love that kind of thing (I call that hyperlinking, and it's not necessarily an internet thing, my Mom did it in the analog world, relating *everything* using history, entertainment and whatnot in lovely quirky ways). Yeah, autotune to the rescue, much easier. Recently I read two books from the engineers who worked in Rumours and Tusk. I thought the tape cutting and splicing was a thing from the 60s but in fact in the mid 70s with the crazy Lindsey trying to escape Pop clichés they did a lot of magic in that sense too way before ProTools - with 24 tracks though. It was an amazing read. Tons of coke included and soap opera: the complete package. PS: See I did the hyperlinking thing!
